Entering the 2006 World Series of Poker
The World Series of Poker or WSOP is the Olympics of all poker players. For the year 2006, the WSOP will be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. And this will be conducted from June 25, 2006 to August 10, 2006.
To enter this world tournament, one must be first aware of basic registration and entry rules. These rules are set by the Harrah’s Operating Company, Inc. Here are some of the important things to remember regarding the tournament registration and entry:
- Anyone who enters the WSOP should not be involved in any illegal activity or that money from such illegal activity should not be used for the tournament’s registration fee.
- A player who wants to join the tournament should be at least 21 years old, and should show proof of this fact. Of course, not anyone will be asked to show proof. But the Harrah’s, at its discretion, will demand proof when they doubt a player’s age.
- Teams, substitutes, assisted play and transfers are not allowed. This also implies that there will be no refunds.
- The Harrah’s has the right to limit the entries or participants to the WSOP. This means that one cannot just barge into the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and demand to be included in the tournament.
- When someone wins during the tournament, this winner will be responsible for taxes, licenses, and other fees that he or she will need to pay.
- And when someone wins, this winner will need to present a valid picture identification, such as a driver’s license, a military identification card, or a state identification card. If the winner is not an American, then he or she should shoe a current passport or an alien registration card. Obviously, any nationality can join the WSOP as long as he can show proof of his or her identification.
- Those people who are specifically not allowed (perhaps by a government program) to enter casinos will not be approved to enter to the tournament.
- To be part of the tournament, a person must certify his eligibility and submit a Pre-Registration Form to Harrah’s. In such a form, the person agrees to the rules set by the organizers of the tournament.
- A participant of the tournament must register before the start of the event he or she plans to join at the 3700 W. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, Nevada
- And, of course, the above rules apply only in places where gambling is not considered illegal.
