The Rules of Poker

Poker has many variations, as many as the spots of a leopard perhaps. However, the most common poker and those played on casinos and an online casino is the Texas Hold ‘Em poker. It also helps that the rules of this game are easier. To prove my point and guide you along the way, here are the basic rules of online gambling casinos Texas Hold ‘Em.

It is possible to play poker with a maximum of 10 players. The place where the dealer sits is usually indicated by a button. The player at the left of the dealer will post the small blind and the player on that player’s left will post the big blind. Small blind simply means to bet first before seeing his or her cards.

It is traditional for Hold'em Games to set a limit as to the amount of money to be bet. I.e. the games are usually described as $2/$4 limits. The small blind would bet $1 and the bigger blind would bet $2. It is the blinds' duties to ensure that there is always money in the pot.

The crucial part of poker is usually the betting part. Every player will receive two cards facing down. The two cards dealt face down are called the hole cards. The players will take a peek at their “hole” cards and decide his or her next move.

The first player to act will always be the person at the left of the big blind. He or she is then given three options. Option one is to fold or throw in his or her cards, option two is to call or bet the minimum bet and option three is to raise or increase the bets to a higher level. If a player raises, other competitors need to call the raise to stay in the game, re-raise or fold.

The play will continue on in a clockwise motion. When it would be the player’s turn to play, he or she could call, raise or fold. The maximum raise allowed is 3 in each round.

After the initial phase of betting has been complete, three cards facing up will be dealt at the table. These 3 cards on the table are known as the flop.

The betting will once again resume, starting with the small blind. If the small blind has folded, the next person to his left will start off. Aside from the first three options of calling, raising or folding, checking will now be involved.

Checking is the option of staying in the game to see the next card but would not want to pay. Checking is only possible if no one before you made a bet.

After the betting on the flop is complete, the fourth card called the “turn” is revealed on the table. The same betting procedure like that on the flop is done.

After the betting for the turn is complete, the final card called the “river” is opened up. The players will then make another round of betting.

If no one has folded, the “hole” cards of the players are then used to make the best possible 5 card hand. The player with the best hand wins the pot.
